From a young age, Dr. Frei developed an interest in how the human body functions. As he progressed through high school and college, he centered his studies around this interest. This desire led him to pursue a career in health and medicine. He focused on primary care and sports medicine because he believes the whole body performs at its peak when every single component is functioning at its best. Primary care sports medicine allows him to keep this focus on the body as one integral unit.

Dr. Frei was born and raised in St. George. He met his wife in college when he was hosting a waffle eating contest. After marriage, Dr. Frei, along with a supportive wife, attended medical school. During the last year of school, they were blessed with twin girls. Another 2 children were added in the following years and the 6 of them enjoy busy weeks, full of all kinds of activities like sports, dance recitals, and enjoying the outdoors in Southern Utah. In his limited free time, Dr. Frei can be found in his orchard, on the lake, or in the mountains.
