What causes Osteoarthritis?

Although the cause of Osteoarthritis is unknown, factors that tend to lead to it include:

  • Aging (normal wear and tear)
  • Injury to the joint
  • Overweight
  • Joints that are formed irregularly (causes imbalance or alignment problems)
  • Genetic deficits in joint cartilage
  • Stressful movements on the joints due to strenuous activity (sports or work)
