Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is an exciting new medical technology that uses the body’s mechanics to promote wellness and healing. Regenerative medicine procedures are done in an outpatient setting, allowing the patient to return home the same day.

At Southwest Spine and Pain Center, platelet rich plasma injections are the focus of the regenerative medicine program, and the benefits of these treatments are numerous.

Regenerative therapy is meant to alleviate pain and promote healing without a surgical procedure. These treatments are also meant to help the body heal, so pain is not simply masked, but symptoms improve. Additionally, cells from your body are used, reducing the risk of infection.

These treatments usually take less than an hour and do not have the risks of anesthesia or require a hospital stay like a surgery. Patients usually begin to experience improvement within 4 to 6 weeks, and most will continue to see improvement for up to six months.

Regenerative therapy works best for conditions including:

  • Back pain
  • Arthritis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tendonitis
  • Achilles tendon injury
  • ACL injuries
  • Rotator cuff tears
